As a Coloradan, you’re probably aware of the benefits of ecological responsibility and preserving our natural resources. Some of us are concerned about global warming. Others just want to save money on their utility bills. But most of us agree that making the planet sustainable for future generations is a pretty good reason to go green.

Not surprisingly, environmental preservation is the basis for the partnership that shaped BackCountry’s future. More than 25 years ago, the developer of BackCountry agreed with Douglas County, the Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA), and Sand Creek Cattle Co. to preserve the Backcountry Wilderness Area. They wanted to protect it for future generations. And this land adjacent to our residential community is a beautiful place – 460 acres – that amazes, inspires, and reminds us what it truly important.
